FREE CROCHET PATTERN - The Autumn Leaves Blanket Throw by BrennaAnnHandmade

I'm so excited to be able to share this FREE step-by-step, cozy DIY scrap project with you all! Meet - the Autumn Leaves Crochet Blanket Throw! :D

It's big but VERY easy (beginner-crocheter friendly!) + is the perfect way to use up all those yarn scraps you have leftover from making other projects!

I chose an "autumn themed" color palette to make my blanket in, but you could use any color combination of yarn in your choosing that you have a bunch of - let me know in the comments below which colors you're going to use! ;)

Being March is National Crochet Month, I wanted to offer this as a free pattern, but I also have the condensed, inexpensive, ad-free + instant-downloadable PDF pattern available in my shop if you'd like! :)

Ready to get started crocheting + busting that yarn scrap stash? Great! Let's go! ;)

The Autumn Leaves Blanket Throw Crochet Pattern by BrennaAnnHandmade

Finished dimensions: measures approximately 60" x 66"

Materials needed:

- A bunch of scrap yarn (all super bulky #6 weight - I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick) in different colors of your choosing - approximately 1,484 yards total.
- a 15mm crochet hook
- scissors

Abbreviations:

ch = chain
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
bl = back loop

(Notes)

Color Sequence:

You can use any color combinations you'd like, just place them in this order (see example pic below):

-3 rows one color
-2 rows next color
-5 rows next color
-1 row next color

(repeat color sequence for entire blanket, finishing with 3 rows of the same color)

How to change colors:

*When you're ready to change colors or attach another scrap piece of the same color, start making a sc as usual, but DO NOT complete the last “pull through” – instead, use the next color (or same color scrap) to pull through and complete that final stitch. Continue crocheting. (see example pics below)

Pattern Directions:

(Starting with 3 rows of the 1st color of your choosing)

Chain 100 (this is the length of the blanket)

Row 1: Put 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-91: Put 1 sc in the back loop of the 1st st, and in each st across, EXCEPT for the last st of the row. Put a regular sc in that stitch. Ch 2, turn.

(Sc border - color of your choosing)

*Attach the yarn to one of the blanket corners.

Row 1: Ch 1, and put 2 sc in the same st. Then put 1 sc in each st evenly around the edge of the entire blanket. When you reach a corner, put 2 sc in that st instead of 1 sc. When you reach the beginning st of the row, sl st to the 1st sc of the row to connect.

Row 2: Ch 1, but DO NOT turn. Instead, put 1 sc in the same st you just ch 1 from, and in each st around the entire blanket again, putting 2 sc in each corner. When you reach the beginning st of the row, sl st to the 1st sc of the row to connect.

*Cut yarn & pull through to tighten. Weave in all ends. You're all finished! :)

*Please Note: You may NOT resell/share this pattern or the pictures included, but you MAY sell the finished items made from them, as long as you use your own photos, and give credit to the original designer.

Happy making everybody!
